Black Dog Cycle Works Skid Plate for the KTM 950SE/R SUPER ENDURO

We continue to enhance the design of our skid plate for the KTM 950SE. Our originally design was tested in the Baja 1000 race and did extremely well at protecting the vital components of the motorcycle and looked quite good given the 1200+ miles of Baja hell it was subjected to at race speeds. Over the last two years, we have continued to refine and improve the design to provide even more protection, making the toughest skid plate in the market EVEN TOUGHER. Our improved design maintains all the strength and benefits from our original design, but includes enhancements to the following areas:

- The rear tabs are now made of thicker material, making them much stronger so they hold up to severe impacts better.

- Improved side stand protection that includes an enlarged wedge that covers the side stand from bottom impacts as well.

- The front portion of the skid plate as been angled to improve alignment and stability with the front mounting points.

- The bottom of the skid plate has been extended to provide 100% coverage of the engine case from underneath and is still compatible with the KTM centerstand.

- As always, the front edge of the skid plate is tapered to provide improved ground clearance and the rugged construction remains.

- The latest enhancement (added January 2010) include the installation of a "Shok Blok" which braces the skid plate on the bottom of the engine case to help absorb those REALLY big hits.

The majority of the skidplate is made of 3/16" aluminum, but the rear tabs have been increased to 1/4" aluminum, which is MUCH stronger than the 3/16" that was previously used. All skid plates are finished in a black based "silver vein" powdercoat inside and outside, then clearcoated for an extra durable finish. The skid plate mounts using existing front mounting location and extends back to the centerstand. All hardware is provided. The plate was designed to protect critically exposed
components such as:

- Engine Cases

- Oil Tank

- Clutch Cover

- Ignition Cover

- Side Stand Mount

The pathetic excuse for a skid plate that comes stock with this awesome machine doesn't remotely do this bike justice.
