KTM 950 / 990 Side Stand Brace

In an effort to address the design shortcoming of the KTM LC8 side stand mount (which bolts directly to the engine case) we now offer a brace that will help support the side stand mount. This brace is designed to provide a great deal of structural support to the side stand mounting location.

Please note, this brace does not guarantee that the side stand won't crack the engine case if it is hit just right, but it does go a long way to reduce that possibility. The only way to ensure that is to remove the side stand completely, which is not an option for most riders, especially given the seat height of these bikes.

This kit is very easy to install using the provided hardware. The brace provides support from the engine case back to the bottom of the centerstand subframe. (maybe orange wasn't the best color to use for showing the bracket on one of the prototypes??). The production versions will be anodized black.

This kit is primarily designed to fit all 2005.5 and new Adventure 950 & 990s, as well as all years of the 950 Super Enduro. The 950 Super Moto has not yet been tested.

We feel this product is very cheap insurance to help REDUCE a possible cracked engine case, which can cost up to $4500 to repair. We run these on all of our 950s and 990s and highly recommend our customers do as well. This side stand brace is an excellent addition to the protection our skid plates offer to the side stand mount. This is another well thought out product that can save you a LONG WALK HOME!!

Please note, if you have pre-2005.5 Adventure and the hole in the lower front engine case is not threaded, you will need to purchase a 1/4 x 4-3/4" bolt, nut and two washers from a local source, as well as slightly modify the brace to fit around a lower piece of the center stand frame that is different on these models. Future versions of the brace will accommodate this difference.

TIP: As an added precaution, we also suggest you do NOT mount the bike by stepping on the footpegs while the bike is on the sidestand. This applies a great amount of torsional force to the side stand mount / engine case. Mounting the bike while the bike is on the center stand is the best way to eliminate this force on the mount.
